You know I get ready for school never knowing what is going to happen at school each day. Because it is soooo true lol. I have not gotten my traditional clothes yet because the teachers at my school are still covering for the teacher that has Dengue. She got out of the hospital on Friday but she is having complications and had to go back in. So the rest of us are covering her classes. Since I am required by my organization to have a co-teacher, I am not actually teaching these classes but I help with the lesson planning, activities and worksheets. So I might have to wait until next week for my clothes but that is okay.
Well yesterday's dance class was fun. I now have another teacher to help with the class and I really needed that extra help yesterday. The students are really loving the hustle, as I thought they might. A lot of what we did was review but we taught them some new things too. Of course I think from now on out everyone is going to be on time for class, lol. I got to see the look on their faces when they walked in an saw the new teacher. Priceless. Mr. Tiny Casanova came in and gaped at the man and kept giggling with surprise, indicating that I was joking. Nope, child. Then he indicated to me that I was really short next to the man. Boy, you are half my height, don't be calling me short! And my older girls nearly fell over themselves since there is now a male teacher. Score one for Teacher Malai! I now have a happy, interested class who is progressing nicely, a co-teacher to help out with the large number of students and now I can show them moves without feeling really stupid by dancing alone. Always, before I release the class I show them a little bit for the next class as like a "coming up." We showed them a spin in and out. Omg their eyes turned into saucers. They had us do it like five times and even tried to start learning it themselves even though the class was over. Oh what fun!
So Mr. Tiny Casanova has a role model and he is already quite attached. When my co-teacher and I were walking out of the school he fell into step beside my co-teacher, with his neck craned up to look at him. I caught Mr. Tiny Casanova's eyes and he blushed but kept up. So score 2 for Teacher Malai. He now has a role model who is a gentleman. And final score number 3 for Teacher Malai is my co-teacher speaks Thai and my students now can understand a few things better. I was teaching a couple of the girls spotting because they were getting dizzy and my co-teacher helped interpret. Yesterday was a day of accomplishment.
Then dinner last night was at Pasta and I met two more new friends, a guy called X and a woman called Cha Cha. They are both Thai. X wants to go to America and Cha Cha must have traveled somewhere because her English is pretty good and her speed is pretty fast for a native Thai speaker. I keep making new friends; this is so utterly fantastic! And today I have rehearsal number 2. There will need to be a few more rehearsals before we are ready for the stage but I am learning and perfecting when I can. And it was explained to me that there are 2 types of rehearsals: the kind where you work on perfecting and are being really picky and then there are the ones where you just sing/play and adjust to the songs and have fun. I am hoping for the later since I am still learning some of the newer songs but whatever it is, I am sure it will be wonderful to just sing. But for now, lesson planning for next week. I think Boggle is in order. Yeah, be jealous. My work involves me playing games while being surrounded by sweet, laughing tiny children. :-)
