So a few things I still forgot to mention (Sorry, I don't write every second of the day so I forget some of the funnies each day). I have 2 tiny tots that can actually say my name correctly, making me do a double take in the middle of class. Then this happened on Thursday: "Hahahahahaha Teacher's skirt went up!" Yes, you little twerp, Teacher's skirt goes up when you pull it up! Good thing I was in the corner before class started and not in the middle of class. Life with children is never boring. Next week I am going to teach all my classes I Spy. I just hate playing games in all my classes because it makes me even more exhausted than usual. They love games so much that they start to get excited and rowdy and become harder to control. Although they sometimes have redeeming moments. Last week, one student touched me and yelled, "Teacher cold!" And tons of tiny hands covered my arms to try and warm me up. It was adorable. My skin was cool because I had a fan running on me for an hour before to try and cool down lol.
Today something disturbing appeared on a paper in front of me and I really want to give the benefit of an honest mistake but in a country where domestic violence and the like is legal I just don't know if I can fully give this to up to a bad translation. I asked my students to write 5 sentences about a Thai Freedom Festival and got many answers about fish, birds, monks, temples and candles. Then one student wrote: I have a gang rape. I tried to ask if that was what she really meant but my Thai companion took over talking to her and she returned with another sentence that was an exact copy of one of her classmates. Oh my. Which is worse? Not knowing if it is true or not or finding out it is true and there isn't a single thing I can do about it.
I had my second dance class today. They learned a basic box step for Waltz along with proper form last week and I was hoping to teach them a turn and a traveling step today. Well nothing goes as you plan and I barely got them through the turn. There was at least less giggling when the opposite sex had to touch each other. Though I had to make an example out of one student. No, you cannot spend every minute of every dance class with the same partner, especially if it is always a girl. There are too many disadvantages to that situation. She tried vehemently to resist and even ran across the room to hug her female dance partner, but no, you will dance with who I pair you with. And I got her to do it without ever having to move. Needless to say, I make everyone dance with the boys so no one is left to giggle about other people touching boys. Good grief, who invented cooties anyways?
Oh and today I found out that Thursday there is no school. Last week it was just Friday but now it Thursday as well. So yaaaay I have a four day weekend. But boo hissssss because none of my other teachers share my holiday since it is specifically for our affiliate university. Also, Thursday morning is when both the Thai program director and the American program director are supposed to visit me and see the school. Sooo everything is a little up in the air and I am not sure if I will visit Phitsanaluk this weekend or not. I will visit it another weekend if things do not work out favorably this time. And I am getting out of Uttaradit this weekend. I have figured out that two weekends in a row are about as much as I can take both in Uttaradit and out of it. So I am home half the time. We shall just have to see. I have this gut feeling that I am not even going to figure out where I am going until Thursday like an hour or two before I leave. I am half tempted to go ahead and pack a bag for it. But no, I want to live the up in the air part to its fullest. So I guess just watch my next couple of posts and see what happens!
