So it has been a relatively calm week so far. I have little amusements constantly. Each time I read the word badroom I giggle despite myself. Mephistopheles jumped from somewhere to a place on the bed a foot from my head and made me jump last night. I have started challenging my little smart mouth older students. Okay so you can understand some English now, great. But can you work through logic puzzles written in English? I did these when I was ten. Then my singing class yesterday was cute. Mr. Tiny Casanova is still my best interpreter though for the first time since I arrived in Thailand I used Google translate. I wanted them to tell me songs they wanted to learn. When one girl wrote down London Bridge I wanted to pick her up and hug her. Of course I will teach you London Bridge! Then another girl wrote Baby by Bieber. Over my dead body. I don't care if it would be easy to learn because it has all of two words in it, not a chance. I am curious to see how much they will remember for next week. Oh and I have decided to teach all of my students ma'am and sir. This culture is all about respect so let's see it in English.
When I got into work this morning I nearly hit myself. My desk has stacks of papers and books up to my shoulder. I have graded most of the papers now so it doesn't look like my desk is trying to hide me from the world. However, I looked at the stacks of worksheets that are for the remainder of my classes this week and some of next week. Then I realized that I would have to grade every last one. Sometimes I swear my brain does not think certain things through. Sigh. Well what is done is done. Just looks like I will be chained to my desk for a week.
Starting today I am teaching students about Independence Day. Let's see how it goes. I almost forgot about it and only remembered this past weekend. I am having my new friends and my fellow teachers that live nearby all come together and we will celebrate, dance and hopefully have sparklers or fireworks if we can manage to find them. Then next weekend I have 3 day weekend. Given my bank account is open to me then, where oh where should I go? Hmmmmmmm.
Last thing, I am tired of scurrying! I do not scurry! But that is what is expected whenever you cross the street with the scary military man's help. Ladies are not supposed to run, a fast walk is not fast enough so you scurry. It infuriates me every morning. Didn't even realize how much I hate scurrying until it was expected of me 4 times every morning. -.-
