Well again there is not much that is thoroughly fascinating and challenging. My reprimand of the day was being told not to use a red pen in the lesson book because it is unlucky. They really should not give me a red pen and expect me not to use it. Today I let myself be naughty. I did not a bit of lesson planning and I had an ice cream cone instead of lunch. I did teach an extra class today and yesterday though. All the English teachers will be at a conference in Bangkok this weekend, including Friday, so I have done my Friday classes early. So this Friday I have to go to work from 8 to 5 but I will just sit at my desk doing whatever I please. Which yes, is a hint that people should be online so that I have something to do! If not, I will just get pointlessly ahead in my lesson plans, and where is the fun in that? Next week I start my extra afternoon classes, which should be interesting and I am sure it will produce some very lively tales.
Some of the funny tales from this week have been a child running up behind me and kissing my elbow. Did not see that one coming. Nope, not one bit. I also taught a class about recipes and had them make one of their own. One child listed "wood, one stick" as an ingredient. First off, I laughed incredulously. Then after thinking for a few minutes, I figured he meant water. Then, after I graded many more papers, I realized he meant popsicle stick. Sometimes it is such fun figuring out different ways of saying things. Then today I made it my main focus for both students and teachers to emphasize the "l" in clock. I am still working on beating out the Thai way of saying "duuuuuuh" instead of door, but I put that aside after having 50 nine year olds not saying clock right on unison today. I have at least one class properly saying the endings of words (In Thai the ends of words are left off), but for most of my classes their memory is like a sieve.
Oh look, Mephistopheles wants to watch me write. Cute! He usually never leaves the bathroom but then again, he did eat most of the spiders there. The spiders and I have a truce. You stay out of the space I use and we are cool. Otherwise, you dead. I think they learned after one of them decided to invade my sink (I found this out when I leaned over while brushing my teeth). And they are downright scared of water too. But then the geckos eat all the bigger ones..
That is all! I look forward to a weekend in with my books. I finished an 839 page book between yesterday and today and that pleases me.
