Well now that I have had some rest, I can write about the fun farang invasion this past weekend. Most of the sleepover people got in at various times Friday night and, of course, even when the lights went out we did not go to bed. There was a lot to catch up on and with more people comes more stories. Eventually though we made it to blissful sleep.
The next morning I was the first one awake, as usual. I was soon joined by the 8 year old son of my friend and we watched Thai Saturday morning cartoons together. One by one the rest of the farang wandered down stairs. We took our turns with showers and then while singing we made scrambled eggs with cheese. It was awesome. Then the rest of us took a nap (so early, I know) while others played with some students in the early morning class. Once I got my fill of sleep I joined in and taught them the game of Keep the Balloon Off the Floor. That brought squeals of laughter. It always was my favorite balloon game.
After our lazy afternoon we began to get things done for the grilling. We had 3 grills going and the Aussies brought some amazing dishes. Like mouth watering dishes. We had a lot of great food and the cupcakes were cooling, though we had to play the game of Keep the Cupcakes Away from the Ants as they Cooled. It truly was an exhausting game. Other people began arriving and of course, there was a frosting fight. We did some dancing and hours of talking and ended the night with a giant sing session that lasted until 3am. It was so pleasant. There was no talking when we struggled up to bed that night lol.
Sunday morning the breakfast was chill. The biscuits were a little different (Thai ingredients), but still tasty. Then the group split and some of us went to the French restaurant and others went and got pedicures. My friends were so happy to talk English all weekend. Then two by two people had to leave for their respective cities and jobs. It was a good weekend so the goodbyes were not too sad. Also, in two weeks we have to go to Chiang Mai for more visa stuff, so we shall see each other again soon. I was glad yesterday for an evening in. I have really learned that a group of Americans together can be exhausting (though many nationalities were represented at our farang invasion).
This week I have a little extra work because I apparently have to teach my normal workload and make up the classes I missed for English Camp last week. Ahhh surprises. But I just need some down time and sleep and I can do it. There are only three more weeks before my October break and I still have no idea what I am doing then, but I have time to figure it out. There is always future excitement to look forward to, though I am hoping for a relatively quiet week. You never know though ;)
