So, the journey has finally begun and already there is too much to tell. I have finished the first leg of my journey....I made it through to Frankfurt. The flight across the Atlantic was nothing special. The best parts were the children in the seats behind us exclaiming, "WOW, it is like a movie theater!" When all the lights went out to sleep. The second part was seeing the sunset over the Atlantic. There is nothing like it.
Now, the fun began after we got off the plane in Frankfurt. First off,the bathroom stalls are the size of sleeping bags. Second, we are quite proud that it only took us two hours to locate baggage storage, the train and best of all, getting the train tickets. Let me just say that just because I don't speak German, does not mean that I don't know you are saying 'stupid American' over and over. Despite all of our challenges, we now can navigate Frankfurt trains and the airport.
While I was on the train, I had a magical experience. Some passengers got up and started singing a Spanish song I know and even pulled a saxophone from nowhere and were playing live music. In that moment, on a train in the German countryside, singing a Spanish songs with strangers, I knew I am on the right track even if I am not in Thailand yet. This is all I have time for because internet is hard to come by. More later!
