Well I finally think I am adjusted. Well, as much as I can be. I had some clothes cleaned so I know what that is like now. I am adjusting to finding my own food and can order basic stuff in Thai (like chicken, rice, pork and pad thai). I used a taxi for the first time yesterday and ordered myself some cocoa at a coffee shop. I bought a small purse at a mall and I found a squishie at a small convenient store nearby. They seem to have an aversion to wash cloths here so I got a squishie. I am used to buying giant water bottles on a daily basis (the plastic on these is super creepy. It is so thin you think it is going to burst in your face). The bugs here think I am a buffet. As my friend Heather says, I look like I have the plague on my back and legs. If you miss even a centimeter of flesh with the bug spray you are done for. I am even starting to adjust to the fact that I only ever know about a quarter of what I am eating. There were squid tentacles in my noodles yesterday (I will adamantly hold to the fact they were noodles and not intestines, if for nothing but my sanity).
Yesterday a group of us did break down and go to McDonald's. We just wanted one thing we did not have to question. The fast food here is considerably less processed and real granular brown sugar is used in everything. Chocolate here is closer to bakers chocolate and fanta tastes like melted and chilled gummy worms. Juice is a really big thing here and there is such a variety. Today is technically our last day of real training. We get to play with elephants all day tomorrow and then meet our schools the next day. All of us can't wait until we can really unpack. That is all for now. Oh wait, one last thing. Our speech is changing. We are making English sound more tonal and it is awful!
Okay still more. I found out today that the only place to get your eyebrows done in Thailand is in a beauty salon and they use a tiny knife! As terrifying as that sounds Heather and I plan on trying it out this afternoon. Oh and I can't put a link to it here because Thai YouTube won't let me but look this video up
